Coding & Marking

Reduce production costs by replacing labels and pre-printed packaging by printing direct to outer packaging materials. Utilising standard ink cartridge systems, thermal inkjet printers do not require any bottles of ink or solvent.

The modular designed Large Character DOD coding and marking systems for texts, dates or logos are available in printing heights up to 140 mm for each print head. For larger printings several print heads can be combined.

The resolution meets the requirements of virtually all industrial applications for marking and coding. These large character systems, with 7-, 16- or 32-nozzles print heads are easy to use, robust and due to the modular construction of the system components, highly flexible.

Color-coded markings are crucially important to many technical areas. In industrial applications, color-coded markings provide information about product quality and condition, regulate processes and determine procedures. Whether dot marking in red, indicating inspected quality in green or coloured line marking for pipes, profiles or continuous products – REA Spray Marking Technology has even more to offer: Using spray mark heads as a spray mark block, one can write large texts, up to 700 mm in height. Dot by dot!

The high-resolution inkjet printers with HP print technology utilize the thermal inkjet technology that is trusted by millions of users of office printers. The robust stainless-steel housing, the intuitive operation and well-conceived print head design make this coding and marking system suitable for unlimited industrial-strength applications. The system particularly proves its worth in the pharmaceutical, food, wood, paper and packaging industries.

The next generation of the REA JET GK 2.0 high resolution piezo inkjet printers is suitable for a wide range of applications and is ideal for marking porous and absorbent materials, such as cardboard or wood, at a print height of up to 100 mm.

The REA JET SC enables contact free printing of 1 to 8-line texts, dates, barcodes, Data Matrix codes and logos in high resolution, and with print heights up to 12mm. The robust and stainless steel housing with IP54 protection class and the intuitive operation make this coding and marking solution suitable for smooth surfaces like foils, laminates and a very wide assortment of plastics and metals.

Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) printers use standard ink cartridge systems and do not require any bottles of inks or solvent, making thermal inkjet printers clean and simple to use.

Thermal inkjet printers use a drop ejection process, storing ink in a cartridge that regulates the pressure of the fluid. Inks are then delivered to the firing chamber and heated to more than 1,000,000 °C/second by an electric resistor. A 0.1 micrometer thick film of ink is heated to around 340°C, from which a bubble is formed to expel the ink. A droplet breaks away from this bubble causing it to collapse, the firing chamber then refills as the whole process repeats.

Thermal Transfer Over printers (TTO’s) use a high-resolution thermal printhead to produce crisp, clear barcodes and information directly onto flexible packaging, labels or foil products. The thermal printhead, thermally transfers ink on a ribbon (which is commonly threaded onto a cassette) onto various types of poly film (LLDPE, LDPE, BOPP). Unlike other inkjet technologies, TT over printers are in direct contact with the substrate, allowing better quality text, graphics and barcodes.

Most flexible packaging machines (Flow wrappers, vertical form fill and seal – VFFS, horizontal form fill and seal – HFFS, thermoformers, tray sealing, shrink / sleeve / stretch wrapping) that TTO’s are incorporated with, have either a continuous or intermittent operation. It’s important to determine the best print location in the context of the films motion path, as this can significantly impact print quality.

When using the thermal transfer printing technology, you can print everything from simple date codes and batch codes to logos, product descriptions, ingredients lists, nutritional panels and fully compliant barcodes. If you need high-density barcodes and labels with longevity, a thermal transfer printer is an excellent option.

Laser marking is one of the most reliable, versatile and cost-efficient product marking methods available.

The technology is perfect for high volumes of printing and creating easy traceability on food, drink and pharmaceutical products. A concentrated beam of light is deflected by mirrors through a lens to form characters by removing material or coating from the product or packaging. Accuracy is guaranteed, giving you 24/7 operation without the need for users to manually intervene.
